DOE Delays Analysis of LNG Exports to US Economy
March 26, 2012
Last Friday, the Department of Energy (DOE) stated that they would delay the release of a study on the economic effects of increased LNG exports. Analysis on LNG exports were expected to be released this month.
An official from the Obama administration stated that a decision on allowing US LNG exports would not be made until the DOE released their report. This will delay the administration’s review of seven applications to export LNG. Due to the delay, the decision to allow LNG exports will likely be made after the presidential election in November, and by the new administration.
