Global Economy & Trade
Proactively responding to the demands of the worldwide marketplace remains at the core of SCOA’s business. A global perspective combined with local market knowledge enables our company to unite the needs of one economy with the advantages of another. As policy actions taken in the US and countries around the globe begin to restore economic and job growth in the wake of the global recession, an important part of the recovery will be the restoration of trade expansion. In fact, rapid trade growth may well act as a transmitter of economic stimulus around the globe and a vehicle of recovery, particularly if enhanced by additional efforts to reduce barriers and expand trading opportunities further. SCOA is thus committed to leveling the playing field for our business by lowering barriers to trade and investment. In the year ahead, we will continue to advocate a robust trade agenda on the part of the US administration and Congress. SCOA will also continue to discourage economic isolationism, including undue restrictions on investment, procurement, exports, sourcing, and human capital.
Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement
SCOA supports the creation of the Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership (TPP). The TPP's goal of creating a fair regulatory structure between countries on both sides of the Pacific Ocean is revoltionary and an ideal trade agreement for the 21st century. The TPP's focus on helping small to middle sized enterprises will help create jobs and encourage international trade. SCOA encourages Japan to continue TPP negotiations with the United States.
